Repointing & Crown Restoration

  • Mortar toned to the original
  • Crowns patched or poured fresh

Ember-Safe Caps & Arrestors

In a very high fire zone the arrestor screen is your first line of defense — in both directions. Stainless caps keep embers in, weather and wildlife out.

  • Screens cleared before fire season
  • Wind bands for canyon-draft homes

Leak Sleuthing & Sealing

Winter storms here arrive hard and leave fast — and the stain by the mantel is their calling card. We trace the entry, fix it, and let the wall breathe.

  • Crowns re-floated & sealed right
  • Step & counter flashing renewed
  • Vapor-open repellents on brick

Stainless Liner Systems

Cracked clay in the old bungalows, tired factory pipe in the tracts — a stainless liner sized to the appliance solves both for the long haul.

  • Liners for unlined original flues

  • Insulated runs for stoves & inserts

Foothill Flags

Seven Flags a Glendora Chimney Raises Early

Between fire season, quake country and hundred-degree summers, foothill chimneys speak up sooner than most. Any flag below is worth one phone call.

  • An arrestor screen furred with sootIt's done catching embers and started strangling your draft. Clean before fire season.
  • Smoke curling back on windy nightsCanyon gusts overpowering a bare or badly sized cap. A wind band settles it.
  • Mortar sand on the patio slabThe joints above are drying out and letting go, one summer at a time.
  • A ceiling mark after the first big stormCrown or flashing gave way in the dry months and the rain just found it.
  • A glassy black sheen in the throatHardened third-stage creosote. That fireplace stays cold until the shine comes out.
  • Twigs raining into the fireboxSomething's nesting in an open pot or torn screen. Eviction, then mesh.
  • New cracks at the roofline after a joltMovement collects right there on older stacks. A five-minute look settles it.

What Foothill Homeowners Want to Know

What's an inspection going to cost me?

The look costs nada — flat nothing, always. The tech takes the firebox, damper, flue, crown, cap and outside masonry once around, then tells you where everything stands before leaving. The only line item in the whole deal is paper: the written report with photos for escrow, insurers or your files runs $149, and it's made only when ordered.

We're up against the fire zone. What matters most?

The top of the chimney. The hillside neighborhoods sit in a very high fire hazard severity zone, where an approved spark arrestor on every wood-burner is code — and a screen furred over with soot has stopped catching embers and started choking your draft. We fit stainless arrestor caps sized to the flue and keep the mesh open, especially heading into a windy autumn.

Why does smoke back up when the Santa Anas blow?

Wind pouring down the canyons pressurizes one face of the house and shoves your draft backwards. A correctly sized cap with a wind band usually cures it outright; where the flue itself is short or oversized for the firebox, a liner rebalances the system for good.

How often does the flue need sweeping up here?

Once a year with regular burning, plus a check before the first fire if the hearth sat cold all summer. Creosote keeps building through mild winters, and the shiny hardened kind is what fires start in. A blank memory on the last sweep is its own answer.

Escrow is moving — how fast are you?

Fast lane: the once-around inside a couple of days, and the $149 written report the next business day after you order it. Photos in, plain language throughout — the buyer's agent, the underwriter and the escrow desk each find what they need on the first pass.

Insured? Prove it?

Gladly — the certificate hits your inbox before the visit when you ask. Each tech clears a background screen first, and drop cloths land on floor and mantel before anything else does.

What does the house look like after a sweep?

Like we were never there. Cloth down, mouth taped, filter-vac humming the whole hour — the mess rides out in the drum and your furniture never hears about it.

All night, six days — what happens Sunday?

Six days a week there is no wrong time — a human takes the call at midnight same as at noon, and real emergencies get wheels moving whatever the clock says. Sundays the mountain gets us to itself; leave word and you top Monday's list. Flames showing or carbon monoxide suspected: house empty, 911 first, then us.
